Local movers are still open for business during the Covid-19 pandemic, so you don’t have to cancel your moving plans. However, you will need to take some additional precautions when planning your move to a new home or apartment. Take a look at our best practices for prioritizing your safety and the safety of those around you:
Be Up Front About Symptoms
If you, someone in your household, or someone you’ve been in contact with have been experiencing any symptoms related to the coronavirus, please let us know before we arrive. We may still be able to work with you, but this will allow us to take extra precautions to protect our workers. And as a return favor, we promise not to send any local movers to your home that have been experiencing symptoms.
Don’t Use Free or Recycled Boxes Now is not a good time to start grabbing up free boxes from supermarkets or stores, especially if they’ve recently been shipped through the mail. Studies show the coronavirus can live on cardboard for as long as 24 hours, so stick with the items you already have at home. If you don’t have enough, we have new materials ready to purchase to facilitate your move.
Social Distancing Rules Still Apply
When you’re moving, there’s a lot of in and out of the home and close contact with other people. We do our best to stick with the social distancing rules recommended by the local government. This is why it’s a good idea to leave all the heavy lifting to us while we’re there. If you need to move additional items outside of what you’ve hired us for, we ask that you move those items before we arrive or wait until we’ve finished our part so we can avoid as much contact as possible.
Your Local Movers are Taking Extra Precautions
We’re just as concerned about Covid-19 as you are, and we’re doing everything we can to create clean, safe moving conditions so you don’t have to cancel your move. We’ve given our team members additional training on sanitization, and we’re fully loaded with gloves, masks, and hand soap and sanitizer to maintain clean working conditions.
We’re careful not to touch door knobs, light switches, or other items in home unless absolutely necessary. To further avoid this, you can help us by turning on all lights and propping open doors prior to our arrival. First Thing After Moving: Give Your New Space a Deep Clean Once all of your things are in your new home or apartment, we recommend giving every corner, dish, piece of furniture, and other items a good cleaning. While we’ve taken every precaution we can, we also believe you can’t be too careful in a crisis situation.
The good news about using local movers during Covid-19 is that you have more time to focus on fixing up your new place and getting settled. Enjoy leaving all the hard work to Montgomery Moving Co. and take your time turning your new space into a place you’ll call home.
